1. Sometimes minor powerplaying is necessary, like when you're carrying someone who's unconscious, so, surprisingly, the first rule of Jobberknoll is NOT 'No Powerplaying'. The real first rule is 'Don't Be An Asshat.' You can't knock another player's character out, kill someone else, etc. unless you've mutually agreed for that to happen (and in the case of killing someone off, discussed it with a mod). And on that same note, your character is not all-knowing. Just because you know about something, doesn't mean your character does.
2. As briefly noted above, please clear all major plot points with a mod. That includes prolonged periods of illness, death, sexuality change, pregnancy, etc. If it's something that will effect not only your character, but someone elses as well, clear it with a mod AND that character's player. We like to be considerate. Don't you?
3. While the game is not incredibly strict on canon, it would be great if there were more heterosexuals than homosexuals. Remember the times we're playing. Alternate lifestyles weren't exactly accepted then, like they are now. There can still be sexual diversity, but keep in mind how your character will be dealing with it. It isn't likely that he/she is public about it.
4. If it wasn't around before game time, then it doesn't exist or isn't well known. That includes music, literature, television shows, etc. And no one mention things like Playstation (it's the 70's!).
5. Two characters per player to start. We'll let you have more if you're active.
6. We do sweeps every month. If you haven't posted at least twice, BEWARE!
7. Speaking of posting, threads should be written in third person, journals in first. Unless you're William Faulkner, there's no excuse for lapses in this.
8. It's great if you like to write a lot, but no one wants to read a novel every time they log in. Shorter posts allow people to respond faster giving the game the ability to move further. This doesn't mean you should write one-liners all the time, but we value quality over quantity here.
9. If you don't like graphic sex scenes, don't read them. Though, for maturity's sake, we ask that you be at least 17 to join. If you can't legally watch a rated R movie in public, then you can't be expected to approach sexuality like an adult. No offense, but some of us are in our 20's.
10. If you're going to be away for a while, leave us a post in the OOC community so we don't delete you. We promise to send virtual hugs and well wishes for your trip or time of need.
11. That said, OOC is kept in the OOC community, RP action posts and owls are kept in the RP community, and backstory/forward story threads are kept in the Alternate story community. Keep in mind that backstory threads only belong in the AS community IF they happen before the games start date. That is, anything happening before December 1, 1976 goes there. Also, anything happening AFTER your student graduates belongs there as well.
12. HAVE FUN! And don't start unnecessary OOC drama. We're all friends here, get me?
PB RESTRICTIONS:
1. Scene stars = no-no. We like natural hair colors. Purple hair dye wasn't big yet. And there's a reason Pete Wentz lives in 2007. Eyeliner and cropped hair wasn't big and neither were skin tight girl pants (on boys, that is).
2. Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, Paris Hilton, and any other socialite will always be just that: socialites. No one wants to see Lindsay Lohan as Lily.
3. Please avoid using the WB Harry Potter actors.
4. Please use age appropriate PB's. A 15 year old should not be played by Tom Cruise.
5. No expressionless models. Although, models with different emotions are allowed.
6. Lastly, keep in mind your characters personality when choosing your PB. We will be when we review your application.
7. Once in game, you are allowed 1 PB change. We understand that circumstances arise (found someone who fits better, icons are scarce, etc etc) where you might need to change. But, you must have a legitimate reason.
For PB ideas, check out the following icon journals: ps_pbicons or moxie_icons. For special PB requests, check out: under_a_spell. However, keep in mind that the makers of these icons DO play in this game.
